PROJECTS

David Jay Flood Architect (“DJFA”) was founded in 1967 with a practice focused on the programming, master planning, and architectural design of winter resort areas across the United States.  The company provided services in over 30 areas with mixed-use projects including Sun Valley, Idaho; Stowe, Vermont; Snowmass, Vail and Keystone in Colorado and Big Sky in Montana.

In 1974, the architectural focus of the firm shifted to the Southern California condominium market.  Among  the more than 2,500 dwelling units designed were the redevelopment projects of 350-unit Sea Colony complex in Santa Monica, and the 250-unit Seascape projects in Redondo Beach and 150 unit townhouse project in Culver City, all for Dominion Properties Company.

In the late 1980’s, DJFA began working with Pepperdine University where we designed and completed for them a 288-bed dormitory, a 13-unit faculty housing project and a 700-bed campus expansion master plan. The firm in 1992 then began working extensively with Loyola Marymount University (“LMU”), providing a master plan for the 20 acre, 1,250-bed Leavey residential campus which includes the completed six student dormitories. In 2006, an additional mixed-use, 452-bed dormitory over structured parking was completed on the Main Campus, designed to meet LEEDS sustainable criteria. All projects were delivered on time and on budget.   At California State University – Channel Islands campus in Camarillo, DJFA provided the design of the second phase, 450-bed student residence and 30,000 square feet of offices and classrooms which will fit within the existing site plan and buildings on campus.

At LMU, in addition to student housing, DJFA designed (including full A&E and interior services) the 45,000 square foot Jesuit Community which includes administrative, residence and oratory facilities; a 350-foot long pre-cast concrete pedestrian bridge connecting the LMU Leavey Campus to the new University Hall complex; the conceptual design for a 55,000 S.F. new Athletic Administration Building and the (continued)
