This four-story dormitory is the second phase housing project on the Leavey Campus. It accommodates 300 students in communities of 40 in a variety of room configurations. It also includes such common areas as lounges, study rooms, offices, conference rooms, art studios and laundry facilities.
The integration and variation of design elements, materials and colors including the distinctive elevator tower topped by a colorful tile mosaic, distinguishes Rains Hall and yet continues in the architectural vernacular established with the first-phase McCarthy Hall.
