Yosemite Institute Crane Flat Campus
Yosemite Park CA

This 53,000 sq. ft. outdoor educational campus includes residences, classrooms, administrative, and dining facilities at over 6000 feet in elevation. Located in a remote area, within Yosemite National Park, the project produces its own electricity and relies heavily on on-site gray water recycling.
The low scale buildings are sited to minimize tree removal and preserve a natural meadow. Individual buildings and interconnected walkways are raised above the landscape to allow the natural site drainage to occur and reduce the need for snow removal.
The project's sense of place and sustainable design serve as an educational tool in environmentally responsible building. This project is currently undergoing a smooth environmental approval process.
