Alpert Jewish Community Center
Long Beach CA

The spirit and design of the Jewish Community Center embodies the word "Shalom", which means welcome, peace, welfare and goodbye. The JCC, a fixture in Long Beach for decades houses early childhood education, teen, senior and adult, health, fitness and cultural arts in a new expansion of 80,000 square feet. In addition, there are administrative offices for the Jewish Federation, the JCC and the Jewish Children and Family services, all non-profit agencies.
The focal point of this one and two-story facility is the 250-foot long "Promenade" which provides access to all the program areas, serves as the vital link to young and old and creates a sense of community. These areas include: classrooms, a playground, meeting rooms, a health and fitness center including a two- court gymnasium, aerobics/dance studio and swimming pools, a library, gift shop, snack bar, art studio, auditorium and parking for 260 cars.
