A new 7,000-acre community planned for the Newhall Land and Framing Company, this master plan included residential, commercial, industrial and public building and recreation zones as well as a system of pedestrian pathways or "paseos." Theses paseos, based on a Spanish tradition, connected residential communities with schools and shopping areas and provided a safe pedestrian environment separate from automobile circulation. The project involved developing continuing relationships with officials at all levels of county and state government.
