Long Beach Aquatic Center (Scheme 2)
Long Beach CA

This proposal combines a 91,000 square foot facility for competitive and recreational events together with 171,000 square feet of new convention space.
A glass tower is the entry and focal point for the mix-use building. The sports facility combines an outdoor water park, indoor Olympic sized arena with operable windows for ventilation and a health club. Exterior space is allocated for temporary events. The convention space is enclosed by an "L" shaped barrel vault roof and connects to the existing Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center.
The combination of functions together dynamic architectural form will create a new hub within the urban fabric.
