Big Sky
Unic Gallatin Country MT
Located in the spectacular ski country of the Montana Rockies, Big Sky is designed as an all-season recreation community. The project is situated on some 10,500 acres, including the ski slopes of Andesite and Lone Mountain, and has a capacity for 6,000 skiers.
David Jay Flood Architect services have included master planning, economic consultation, architectural design / implementation, plus interiors and graphics. A three-story commercial complex and connected gondola terminal, 204-room lodge, condominiums and facilities for employee housing will also be included.
The mountain Village Commercial Core presents the architectural theme of the project and will be the focal point of activity. The complex is completely enclosed within one structure, which is adapted to a sloping site, allowing entry at various levels. The structure has been designed to allow for future expansion. The interior of the complex features clerestory windows, glue-laminated beams, and rough sawed cedar siding. In the center of the mall, a massive rustic stairway leads to the Convention Center ion the upper level. Bold colors and graphics accent the entire center.
